Jay G. Safer

Jay G. Safer is a partner in Dunnington Bartholow & Miller LLP's New York office and handles complex U.S. and international litigation and arbitration. Jay was appointed to the Commercial Division Advisory Council that advises the Chief Judge and the Judiciary on all matters involving the Commercial Division of the State of New York. Jay was appointed to the Advisory Group to the Joint New York State-Federal Judicial Council consisting of Federal and State Judges.

Jay served on the Planning Committee for the Judicial Conference of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. Jay was appointed by the New York State Chief Administrative Judge to serve on the Advisory Committee on the Civil Practice Law and Practice Rules. Jay is a Past Chair of the Federal & Commercial Litigation Section of the New York State Bar Assn and is the Co-Chair of its Federal Judiciary Committee. Jay is a Vice-Chair of the International Section of the NYSBA and Co-Chair of its International Litigation Committee. He was a past Vice President of the NYSBA, former Chair of the New York City Bar Assn’s Council on Judicial Administration, past member of the Board of New York Country Lawyers Assn, and is a member of various Bar Associations.

Jay represented the Commercial and Federal Litigation Section of the New York State Bar Association for the 225th Anniversary of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York and the 150th Anniversary of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York. He coordinated the creation of a Bibliography of United States District Court Judges of the Southern District of New York and presentations for the 225th and 150th Anniversaries of the Southern District of New York and the Eastern District of New York. Jay is an adjunct professor at Fordham Law School teaching foreign lawyers obtaining their LLM on the management of U.S. litigation for international lawyers, including the role of arbitration and mediation.
