Asbestos litigation and importance of deposition summaries
Asbestos litigation has a history of longest running mass tort cases in the US. Every year nearly 10,000 people die of asbestos related diseases in the United States. Asbestosis, Mesothelioma and lung cancer are the most common diseases caused by asbestos.
Many lawsuits have been filed since 1929 when the first lawsuits against the asbestos manufacturers were noticed. In the United States, hundreds of thousands of attorneys have been involved in the asbestos litigation fighting for their respective clients. Parties involved are frequently deposed by different counsels. Multiple plaintiffs lead to high number of depositions in such cases. Every deposition is carefully studied by attorneys as they look for information to support their arguments.
A large number of attorneys who are involved in asbestos litigation prefer using deposition summaries rather than having to go through the whole deposition transcript. A well summarized deposition provides an attorney with accurately recorded dates, figures, names and exhibits; gives a record of key events and actions; eliminates extraneous information; and organizes subject matter into coherent paragraphs, thus, saving them their critical time. Usually a 100 pages transcript of deposition of is reduced to a 10 pages summary.
At Draft n Craft, we summarize thousands of deposition pages everyday to facilitate our clients all across the United States. Our summaries provide a cost and time saving of up to 80% and allow law firms to offer more value to their clients.
